Potato tiles filled with caramelized onion

  • potatoes sliced with mandolin 8
  • onions peeled, halved and sliced 5
  • sprigs of thyme 2
  • melted butter 5 tablespoons
  • Olive oil
  • Salt and pepper


Pour olive oil into pan and heat, add the onions and brown until caramelized.

Arrange in an oven proof dish the potato slices overlapping like tiles, spread butter on top of each layer and add the onions then add another layer of potatoes,

When done sprinkle sea salt and ground pepper

Cover with foil and bake at 180c for 120 minutes.

*Mandolin – a slicing utensil to evenly slice thin slices
